About the Project
The University of Illinois Health “UIH”, an academic medical center in heart of the Illinois Medical Center in Chicago, IL. The project was identified as a key part of the university’s master plan to accommodate the increasing volume and complexity of surgical patient care, education and research at UIH.
This project was UIH’s first healthcare project to enter into a Public Private Partnership “P3” process. Ankura formed a collaborative project team to develop, design, finance, construct, and manage a new 6-Floor, 200,000 sq. ft. ambulatory surgery center and specialty clinics “OSCSC.”
The Hospital is a clinical enterprise that includes a 465-bed tertiary care hospital with 21 outpatient clinics. The Hospital to-date has 936 physicians and advance practitioners with an anticipated annual volume: 200,000 patient visits, 8,200 surgeries and 8,300 GI procedures.
The Outpatient Care Center provides a new home for:
Outpatient surgery with (8) operating rooms
(2) procedure rooms
(24) pre /post/anesthesia care unit bays
182 clinic rooms for gastrointestinal, ophthalmology, otolaryngology, transplant and urology care
Preventative and diagnostic care and imaging

35% of construction vendors (and 20% of professional services) were local minority, women, persons with disabilities and veteran-owned business certified under the Business Enterprise Program Acts. Employing over 500 individuals during the two-year project.
Expanded operations and clinical services will create 100 new full-time positions.
